What to Look for in an Outdoor Ceiling Fan

Outdoor Ceiling Fans Nothing adds comfort to a porch or patio setting more than outdoor ceiling fans. Many shoppers, however, are confused by the "damp" vs. "wet location" ratings of outdoor fans.

Damp rated outdoor ceiling fans are for use under a covered porch or patio. They should not be installed in an area where they will be directly hit by rainfall.

Wet rated fans, on the other hand, may be installed in uncovered areas such as a gazebo where they will be directly exposed to rain.

Just take into account where your fan will be installed when shopping for an outdoor fan. And remember that either type of outdoor fan can be used indoors as well.
